NewWave Introduces Paid-Volunteer Time Off to Employees

Mar 17, 2015

ELKRIDGE, MD. March, 2015. The corporate world and volunteer work are frequently perceived to be at opposite ends of the spectrum. Here at NewWave, we strive to ensure the two are not mutually exclusive and encourage our employees to be active in the community.

NewWave leads by example and has recently made charitable donations towards causes supported by our corporate culture and employee interests. A few examples being, March of Dimes, Tour De Cure and FaceAfrica. NewWave’s Community Outreach Committee voted to support these charitable organizations. They were chosen due to the overwhelming interest and genuine concern for these issues.

To continue to increase involvement and give employees the gratitude of individuality, NewWave has implemented a corporate matching gift program. This is a charitable giving program set up by NewWave in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible charity organizations. The intention of this program is to increase contributions and encourage employees to exceed the company’s humanitarian goals. The matching program will give employees a chance to make an even larger impact with their donations, while being backed by NewWave. There are a multitude of ways companies can get behind the causes their employees are passionate about and help make a substantial impact in their local and global communities. Matching gift programs are just one way to do that.

On top of providing matching charitable donations, NewWave allows employees to make a visible impact in their communities with an innovative Paid Volunteer Time-Off program. The Paid Volunteer Time-Off (PVTO) policy gives employees eight hours per year to volunteer, or give back in some way, in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area and beyond, while still being paid for that time.

By providing employees with the opportunity to stay actively involved in what they are passionate about, NewWave anticipates a heightened sense of job satisfaction amongst employees. NewWave foresees the PVTO program strengthening relationships among colleagues, building loyalty, increasing employee morale, and giving employees the tools to utilize teamwork and people skills. Most importantly, giving a sense of gratification to work for a place with a strong community mindset and being involved in something bigger.

At NewWave, we believe our employees want to help improve the world we live in, but we also understand there are often complications that don’t allow this. NewWave implemented this new policy to aid in eliminating the barriers and help people give back in their communities. We are truly enthusiastic to see the positive impact our organization and employees can make in 2015.
